Welcome!  The Bessie Coleman Middle School Motto is Destination Excellence.  With excellence in mind, we are here to support student success by serving you and your child.

The goal of the 2012-2013 BCMS Guidance Counseling Department is to promote the health and safety of students through district, parent, and community resources. We provide preventative education, training, intervention, and resources to
help students achieve greater success in school. Collaboratively working with all students, parents, teachers, staff members, administrators, and community to:

• Support student success
• Increase state testing scores
• Increase career awareness
• Increase graduation rates
• Decrease drop-out rates and
• Facilitate student growth through a school-wide guidance program

The BCMS Guidance Counseling Department strives to achieve these goals by providing a quality, comprehensive guidance program addressing academic, personal/social, and career development. 

In doing so, the Guidance Counseling Department supports the BCMS  Mission Statement by believing that anything is possible through collaboration, rigor, relevance and relationships. We are committed to becoming a national premier middle school by providing an excellent, effort-based education for all students.

Through these efforts, the focus of the Guidance Counseling Department is on helping to prepare students to lead fulfilling lives and contribute as highly productive members of society.
